Would you like a free printable office poster, a DIY Kmart hack or a tour of my office? Well what a co-inky-dink! This blog post is all three of those things.
Hello there,
I hope you're having a great day.
If you have been following along on Instagram you may know that we have been busy doing some renovations around the Little Patchwork House. It wasn't planned but when we decided to get a fire installed it kind of had this domino affect and next thing you know we had a whole new lounge room.
Let me explain. When we pulled up the carpet, a gap was left between the skirting boards and the floor, we have lived with it for a while and had some future plans that included floating floors etc but they were way off. So four days out from the fire installation, Pacman decides that we need to get the new skirting board behind the fire ASAP or it will be impossible to do it later, with the sandstone hearth weighing 120kgs and all.
After the skirting boards go down, they need to be painted, so then we have to paint the wall too, right? Then we can't just have one wall painted, we need to do the whole room, so we may as well do all the skirtings and the architraves while we're at it. Oh and the blinds and….you get the picture.
The front of the room, where my office is, was originally an extension with just chipboard under the carpet. Not very nice to look at and impossible to clean, but because of the future floating floorboards plan we had just left it. Until now because, you know, new skirting boards.
So anyway, one complete fit out of the entire room later, including a DIY plywood floor that you can see in process above (I will be blogging that tutorial ASAP) and the room was looking fresh. So fresh that I wanted to completely de-clutter my office and get a bigger desk. You can see the before picture above, it is super cute and I was bummed to see the wall clouds go but change is good, right?
And here is the change. What do you think? I was also sad to replace my vintage world desk (even though now it is being used daily for colouring in) but this Indiana Desk from Office Works is a much better fit for me. The black set of drawers were also from there, but a few years ago. After a HUGE cull I managed to get everything I needed into these drawers so I could get rid of all the shelving.
It was looking so minimalistic and I started to freak out so I made a print of one of my favourite sayings and uploaded it here so you guys can also print it out if you want to. Just right click it then save it to your computer.
My Kmart Wooden Floor lamp needed to be pimped so I used blue washi tape to make a Swiss Cross pattern on it. I also put a bit on the back of the switch to tie it all in.
And then I dusted off the Aleida Pullar ceramics that I have been collecting, aren't they beautiful? And perfect for all my stuffs and flowers. If you want to get yourself some she is always at Avoca Beachside Markets.
The space is a work in progress, I thought I just wanted a white studio but it feels weird and un-me, so I look forward to seeing how it evolves. Probably into a crazy, cluttered office again, but I'm totally open to that. The one thing I am planning to add soon is a Cactus Wall Hook for my handbag.
Also, glass jars full of things make me happy so I had to share a picture of mine. The wooden topped canisters and confetti jar are from Miss Kizzy's. You should totally go and check it out if you're a coast-side.

So many uses for wash tape! Ok, so stupid question. Where do you get that screen saver from? I can never find it when I go looking in the app store.
