Around Here – With Colorado Kids

April 26, 2016

Want to see what a ‘normal’ day in our world looks like?

Around here - with colorado (5 of 15)

{This post is brought to you by Colorado Kids} I'm not sure how a one week holiday can basically eat up an entire month but ours seems to have done exactly that. Between the prep, the packing, the actual week, the jet lag, then the inevitable flu that follows the long haul flights, we have seriously lost April.

Going away for a week without the kids was huge for us, it was amazing though. They had so much fun with their grandparents and cousins and we had an awesome time in Germany, but I didn't really love being on the other side of the earth to my kids. Don't get me wrong, I loved the trip and I loved getting some couple time, and as far as I can tell they couldn't have given a rats, but if I'm being entirely honest, it felt pretty unnatural.

Anyway, now we are back and I'm determined to return to normality and see April out with some semblance of a routine.

So I thought I would give you guys a little look into what an average day around here looks like.

1. Two of the reasons we bought a king sized bed.

2. I get most of my work done in the morning, between the time Pacman goes to work and the kids wake up. It's quiet and my brain works so much better than at any other time.

3. Kids' breakfast.

4. As usual the bag is the only thing ready for preschool, we probably won't leave for at least another hour, if we are lucky.

5. Chickens' breakfast.

6. No matter how many times I yell; hurry up and get in the car! I always find them happily reading or drawing, not a care in the world. Their ability to completely ignore me and enjoy their morning is truly enviable.

7. Squawk and I usually head to the beach after we drop Scout off, even though he's more often than not ready for bed pretty early.

8. He lay down on the sand and said, "I fweep here mummy" then had a huge tanty when I tried to carry him back to the car. He would happily sleep on the beach everyday. He would happily do most things on the beach everyday.

9. After Squawk is tucked into bed, I usually have some sort of super healthy breakfast. Today it's two Anzac biscuits and a cup of tea. With a side of Lunch Lady Magazine. Then I get a few hours of work done until either Squawk wakes up or it's time for pre school pick up.

10 & 11. We pick up the lady and head out to one of our favourite cafe's for juice while she tells us in great detail about her day, all about her day. In great detail.

12. A quick scoot at the skate park to burn off any remaining energy and to soak up the sun, this is my favourite time of the day, just chilling before the hectic-ness of the afternoon shift begins.

13. Early bath and snuggles, we always do bath before dinner, hubby gets home too late to provide an extra set of hands so it just works better for me to do it in this order. Less rushing, more post-bath snuggle time.

14. Sometimes pancakes are all you have in you after a big day. I'll feed them veggies tomorrow.

This snapshot into our day was brought to you by the lovely people at Colorado Kids, they wanted us to road test their new range of gorgeous leather kids' boots that have just launched onto the Australian market. So we took them to the beach, preschool, the skate park and our backyard (which closer resembles a farm than a regular back yard) and gave them everything we had.

I wasn't surprised at how hardwearing they are, that was a given, you just have to look at them to see that they are super high quality. Any dirt, chicken poo and sand just wiped off them easily which is pretty great for leather. What really surprised me though is how light they are, they have a latex foam cushioning which meant the kids were happy wearing them all day. My daughter constantly takes her shoes off usually and she actually kept these on, she even happily rode her scooter in them, apparently they are 'really comfy'. And Squawk, well he is just really stoked to have his own pair of 'daddy boots'. You can get the Colorado kids range at both Williams and Mathers across Australia.
