This DIY stain is like a temporary tattoo for your lips – AND it only takes two minutes to make, has two ingredients and you probably have them in your kitchen right now. Kissy kissy!
Do you do lipstick? I don't. I am a huge fan of lip stain though, on the rare occasion that I put a face on, I like my lips to be a different colour than my skin, you know, so I look alive and stuff. This DIY stain is so much better than lipstick. It doesn't taste weird, clump in the corners of my mouth or get on my teeth. You don't have to re-apply it and you get that my-lips-are-just-naturally-pink-and-awesome look. Whack a bit of clear gloss on top and I dare you to walk out the door without some random wanting to smooch you.
Ingredients
There are only two ingredients; coconut oil and food colouring. If you're anything like me you have both of these ingredients in the kitchen. That's it, you don't need anything else except something to put it in, I am a total hoarder so I just dipped into my basket-o-crap and pulled out an old glitter container.
I like a pink lip but you can use red, mix up a grape colour or whatevs. If you want to go a bit more au-naturel you can use berry juice but then you would have to keep it in the fridge.
This stain is absolutely safe for kids if they want some 'lipstick' (just put less colour in it) and you can also play around with this recipe and add some crushed up eyeshadow for sparkle or a tiny drop of vanilla essence for smell OR… if you want to go totally crazy, some cinnamon will naturally plump up your lips. #thuglifeandallthat
Directions.
Pop about a teaspoon of coconut oil in the container then add about five drops of colour – just eyeball it until you get your desired colour. Mix it up with a paintbrush and make sure you get it really evenly distributed then pop it in the fridge for a minute or two.
Coconut oil melts at 24 degrees Celsius so in any temperature above that, it will be a liquid, anything below it will be a solid. (little science lesson for you right there, you're welcome) Either way, use a brush to apply the stain.
These make really good (and cheap) DIY gifts for Valentine's Day, bridesmaid gifts or as part of a pamper package. I like to fancy things up so I stamped out a label on some craft paper and stuck it on the top. Simples.
Oh and one more thing, if you're planning a huge make-out session for Valentine's Day, this is the winner. Because it's basically a temporary tattoo for your lips you can totes pash on all night and still have pink lips, it also doesn't transfer so he, will not.

Very cool! I was a gloss only girl for 20 years and in the last couple of years have ventured back into using a lipstick 🙂
